Small Standard Jacks
These 7.5” standard jacks are my most popular size offering and my personal favorite. They’re terrific jacks for anything smaller than a bread box and much more. I open all vessels regardless of size with these.
While these jacks feel unique in their own right they have been very scrupulously detailed to replicate my favorite features of Dino’s tools. The blades are made of an extremely smooth tool steel. They require very little wax and don’t squeak or chatter. The blade profiles are soft and wedge shaped. They are flat and wide with a subtle curvature. The blade tips have a bit of mass towards the tip and are bit pointed - yet have enough thickness to support higher working temperatures. The handle is a very slender and sleek design that is not too bulky in the hand and closes without pinching your fingers. The straps are stamped with a logo and date of manufacture.
The spring has a tight, bright, and lively movement that has a good bounce to it. It doesn’t have the dull stiffness that I like to avoid and that people categorize as “too stiff”. This strap tends to be more popular in a blind squeeze test - with a strong spring reminiscent of Dino and some Carlo Donà straps. I like that it allows you to open a vessel without having to put much effort into it because all you do is release your grip and the jacks do the work for you.
blades about 7.5” / handles about 4” / strap about 3.5” H x a little over 1.5” W
These high quality and highly functional tools are hand made one at a time per order in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Each tool shows clean and visible signs of being made by hand and each is a unique object.
